Friday 6 th Nov Antananarivo – Andasibe (130km ca. 2 t) B, L, D We start our journey of discovery in Madagascar and runs east to Andasibe national park. On the way to Andasibe we will visit a reptilfarm. After lunch we continue towards Andasibe. After checking in at our hotel Hotel Vakona Forest Lodge (2 nights) we have the opportunity to be an exciting walk in the National Park to see lemurs and chameleons attractive. On this trip we have the opportunity to see one of the smallest chameleon that is the size of a little finger.
Saturday 7 th Nov Andasibe (Turgåing)B, L, D Today a local guide to take us into Analamazaotra special reserve (approximately 4 h) to experience Malagasy flora and fauna as well as find the biggest lemur; Indri Indri’en
which is the size of a child. Today we will experience different lemur species in the wild.After lunch we visit a private reserve that is home to various species of lemur. Lemurs who live here are saved from earlier captivity or were born here and are therefore quite tame. See therefore not ignore the fact that they jump up on your shoulders. Sunday 8 th Nov Andasibe – Antsirabe (300km ca. 5 t) B, L, D A nice drive on good, but winding roads over rice paddies to Antsirabe (founded by Norwegian missionaries), 1500 m. Still feels town like a cool retreat from the heat and hustle in Tana. “Poussepousse” (rickshaw guys) invites walking along avenues with flowering trees. Here are traces of Norwegians work, and a small mission museum in Stavanger street.Here is still a sense of warmth and authentic folk traditions. Hotel Couleur Café
Monday 9 th Nov Antsirabe – Ambositra (90 km ca. 2t) B, L, D The road goes to town AMBOSITRA, high on a plateau surrounded by peaks and clouds. Here live zafimaniry, an ethnic group that is known for its woodcarvings. Their culture and landscape is on UNESCO’s World Heritage List. Small shops selling gemstones, woodcarving, basket wicker things and paintings. After lunch we will drive the rickshaw to visit a workshop that transforms a zebuhorn into a magnificent
decoration object. Then we will also visit an NGO owned by the Malagasy Lutheran Church and the Norwegian Missionary Society. Overnight at Hotel Artisan 2 nights.
Tuesday 10 th Nov Ambositra Vandretur (ca 4 t Vandring) B, L, D From highway to highway, so on foot to explore Zafimaniryenes villages. We are not the first tourists who come there, but villages are interesting and we’ve known people with that can take us on paths that are good to go on and appreciate the effort. Here and there the forest – elsewhere it is evident deforestation.
Wednesday 11 th Nov Ambositra – Ranomafana (164 km) B, L, D Ranomafana is a national park rich in fauna and flora. Here we find many species of lemurs and interesting endemic vegetation. Ranomafana means “hot water” and there is
plenty of hot springs. We must of course try a bath, but it is above all national park that draws, a rainforest dominated by Namorona River, formed by water from numerous small rivers. (It was discovered and mapped in 1986, when they also discovered an unknown lemur species, golden bamboo lemur-). The national park was immediately established to protect this rare species. We can choose between different paths and of course we have with us a local guide. In the rainforest, we can see Edwards sifaka lemur, the golden bamboo lemur-and reptiles. There are about 96 endemic plant species here. Here are orchids, ferns, palms, and low thicket of giant bamboo. We have the whole day to explore the national park. The park is home to 29 different mammals. Here live fosa,lynx-like “creeping cat”. 100 bird species, 68 of them endemic, twittering between trees and shrubs. People Plot is here neither. In the afternoon you will make a visit to TANALS typical village in this area. Our lodge for the night is inside the park, with views and proximity to the countryside. Setam Lodge.
Thursday 12 th Nov Ranomafana – Iarintsena (135 km) B, L, D Early morning we go to Iarintsena. We will be visiting a plantation and factory where doing tea fermentation in Sahambavy. After lunch we continue with the visit to Soavita cellar for wine tasting. We will also visit a workshop that produces Ante Moro paper. We are now in the polygamous and warlike bara land. Here are zebu-cows, cattle with hump, well then employ as wives, they say. The landscape consists of highly eroded sandstone mountain shaped jurasisk time. Here we find deep gorges with forest at the bottom,oases crowned by palm forests with tapia trees that are resistant to fire and open grass pastures. Hotel La Varangue you Betsileo.
Friday 13 th Nov Iarintsena – Ranohira (235 km) B, L, D We leave the mountains for the mighty Horombe Plateau, where Isalo National Park. We pass the cotton fields along the Isalo national park or Ranohira which is snug. Visit the traditional Mahafaly tombs and murals belonging Bara and Antandroy tribes. We make a stop in Anja Private Park, led by village society. This is called “our Madagascan Colorado.” The combination of sandstone cliffs carved out deep canyons, plains with shrubbery, rare, endemic plants and very dry weather makes this visit Isalo something special. Here are golden plains broken up by jagged peaks and formations of dried, sun- baked clay. We eat lunch here before continuing to Ranohira. Hotel Isalo Rock Lodge 2
Saturday 14 th Nov Ranohira (Vandretur) B, L, D The village Ranohira is the gateway for all excursions in Isalo National Park. The landscape is first wound of sapphire mines, so give the mountains and deserts after for grasslands and flowers in the first rains have come. Baobab trees popping up – the “devil tree planted with the crown in the soil and roots aloft.” There are people of many ethnic groups that make today’s stage interesting with a variety of burial practices. We use the day here to hikes to lemur valley and if we reach an oasis-like plateau with natural swimming pool. Straight out of the Bible account of creation first day, a traveler has said. Take time to sit down and look at chameleons, frogs and reptiles iguanlignende, or listen to the bird song. It should be 55 bird species here. On the trip we eat a picnic lunch in the park.
Sunday 15 th Nov Ranohira – Ifaty (270 km) B, L, D In the morning we’ll go together in Isalo National Park and through Ilakaka, a small market town resident of sapphire extracting. Then we continue to Ifaty which is a fishing village resident of Vezo nomads. After more than four hours traveling Tulears distinctive ridge itself, la Table, and we are promoting. Tulear, “the white city”, is that a capital in the south, a mosaic of ethnic groups and cultures, warmed by the sun. Here are the colors and light tones of tsapiky music fills the streets, and shape the way people live and move on. We continue our walk and come to the wonderful beach Ifaty where we will stay one night. Hotel Les Dunes d’Ifaty.
Monday 16 th Nov Antananarivo We drive to Toliara airport to take off to Antananarivo. This last day is just to relax and buy the last souvenirs. Lunch you eat on their own. In the evening we gather for a nice farewell dinner before heading out to the airport.
